Best powder?

I'm looking to get a new ranslucent/setting powder. What, in your opinion, is the best one? I need one that will mattify nicely for photography and last more more than 5 minutes. Thanks!

Also, I am set on bluch but would like to try out some bronzer (new realm for me), any suggestions? It would be for both bronzing (obviously) and contouring (or do I need to separate products?)

ok, i admit it...
with every brand of makeup coming up with their own versions of mineral foundation i was getting pretty curious...

So i went to the source, Bare Escentuals and their bare mineral line... I really didn't think a powder was for me. I have dry skin that breaksout easily and need lots of coverage...

Well i'll be dammed... this stuff really works!!!

I've been using the foundation for a week now and i am totally sold... I went back to buy the started kit (totally worth it for all the brushes) and i hate that i have nowhere to go today and no excuse to put makeup on :(

I tossed my liquide foundation, my concealer, my little green stuff for blemishes and my face powder!

and you know what? My skin is looking better than ever, no breakouts, it even dried up one huge pimple during the day!!!!

Don't walk... RUN!!!!

Eyeshadow...

I don't think I've mentioned this before - I used to have this eyeshadow that went on super smooth and glisteney. I can't remember what it was called or where it came from. I remember the color of the yellow the most, and it was a really great yellow that hinted almost green. I remember two of each color being in a pack of 8 (I think). They were little white qtip like tubes with the eyeshadow being like the cottony part of the qtip. You just brushed it on directly like that. They were very simple and convenient, but I think they were ancient and I haven't seen anything like it since. Any clues?

questions from a student

I am looking in to starting classes in this particular field and I had a few questions pertaining to the “real world.”

What are recommendations and/or suggestions as far as schooling and obtaining knowledge in this field?

Any personal dos or don’ts?

What is it like out in “the field?”
Is job placement plentiful?
Are any jobs relating to this field dependable and consistent (i.e. 9-5 Monday through Friday) or is it more of a contractor scenario (gigs for months at a time and then dry spells)?

I have heard tell that the Special Effects industry is slowly disappearing and jobs are going over seas, is this more rumor then fact?

Is it best to lean more toward the beauty/photography/t.v aspects of this profession rather then special effects and film?

Is it best to have equal amounts of knowledge in all categories? Jack-of-all-Trades?

I do have performance education that I am working on that I do not see “bowing out” of the picture once I delve into this education. Do I need all my focus and attention to be concentrated on this after my schooling in complete, if I intend to make anything of it? Is it possible to make it in this field without hitting promotion head on and constantly? Is it possible to make an enjoyable living out of this education while splitting my energy, time, and love between this and my continuing performance education?

anything to be aware of out in the field?
certain make ups to use or don't use? Certain scenes to get involved in or to not get involved in. Certain Jobs to be aware of? Positives and Negatives?

I'm in love with these! I've been using them since they debuted about 2 1/2 years ago. Never truly adored any of the colors--until now. I've been wearing "Bahama" pretty regular, but the two new colors they've added are awesome."Walkyrie" a brownish-pink berry and "Bettina" my new favorite is a lighter totally weearable pinkish golden color.
The texture is soft and creamy and light, but matte and long-lasting.
All lip color junkies must try for yourself.
Yes, it's spendy, but well worth it!

makeup novice seeks help!

I have been a natural gal for too long - I am just now entering the world of makeup and glamour. I love it here! But I need help.
I need to create a 1940's/50's pin-up girl look. But I have never mastered the eyeshadow thing. Anyone have a basic technique?
Another problem - I know this look requires dramatic brows, but mine are very fair (I'm a natural redhead) - how do I do this without looking scary?

Any info at all would be helpful!

on the skin. I find that using a sponge over the template makes it alittle blurry...

2.sally hanson, diamond lip treatment the clear glitter one(it says it plumps but I don't think it does, but it looks/feels good)

6. the new "HP" brand cosmetics...the deep purple lip gloss, difficult to apply though, they need to make it a wand and not a squeeze on tube for better control when applying it, right now I put it on with a lip brush<-awesome color no plump

Covering my Tattoo?

I have taken a conservative day job and I need to cover my very colorful tattoo. I tried Kryolan Aquacolor foundation tonight, and it just made it look faded.

Someone suggest Dermacolor; has anybody used that? How does it work. I think maybe the folks on Lion King used that one.

Tips and Tricks

As I am getting ready tonight for Trannie Shack here in Ft. Lauderdale, I am reminded of 2 tricks I have learned.

1. Just this week I heard this one: if you make the eyes dramatic, smoky, or in some other way the focal point, then do an understated mouth. I am doing smoky eyes with a natural lip tonight.

2. When applying eyelashes: put the glue on the eyelash strip and let it set for 10 minutes. Then apply: they do better when they are tacky, but not really too wet.

I will try to post a photo of tonight's look.

Kryolan makeup??

Hi all, I'm new to this tribe ;) I just bought some Kryolan aquacolor makeup and unfortunately I suck at putting it on. I either make it too watery or not enough. Plus I'm not very creative in putting it on. It's a shame because I have the irridescent set, the neon set, white, black and silver. Any tips would be very much appreciated!!

Caswell Massey in NYC used to sell them aeons ago, and they were little black silk stick-ons in an envelope.

Powder Foundation help!?!?

So, of course, my favorite powder foundation has been discontinued. It actually wasn't the best persay, but it did the job and was a price I could afford.
Liquid make up is too heavy and time consuming for me to use, liquid-to-powder foundation is also too heavy and takes too long to 'set", and "finishing" powder does not give me the coverage I need.
Can anyone recommend a powder foundation that works well and isn't more than about $20??

I have tried MAC Studio Fix, but it was way too heavy and caused my skin to break out.

I have combo skin... and the cheaper brands of powder foundation (Loreal, cover girl, maybelline) seem to settle in fine lines, make my skin look really dry in some areas, and gets "blotchy" looking after a few hours of wear. Yuk!!

Eyeliner Experiments

I've tired of the usual swivel-up Maybelline eyeliner and am trying out new things. The pen type is okay except it takes a long time to dry. I bought some Jane powder shadow in Clubbing, a sparkly black and tried it with a wet liner brush. It is SO great! It stays on, smudges perfectly, dries quickly. I like it!!

These will be evenings for people to get together and learn about applying Liquid Latex, from the basics to the advanced tips & tricks. Come play with Deviant Liquid Latex in our comfortable facility. Bring your partner or a friend, or come solo and make new friends! Have you been wanting to try Liquid Latex but weren't sure about the best way to apply it, or if it would really turn out like looking the people in our photos? skin health - how important is it?

Hi,

I have always spent a lot of time and money on my cosmetic fetish but I am only just now considering making an investment in my skin care products. I have always been a soap and water and cheap moisturizer sort of girl.

Can I continue this way, or should I really make the investment and buy a good quality cleanser, exfoliant, toner, and moisturizer? If so, I was considering the Aveda Face line, or perhaps the Fresh sugar line, does anyone have a recommendation?

Hello everybody,
I just love dramatic, sexy makeup. I was always envious of beautiful women's abilty to create such art out of themselves. Enough envy, I am going to be one too, even if only for a few nights a month. Alas, I know not what to do. I have a suitcase full of slinky clothes, and a makeup kit and some rather humourous experiences using it. Once or twice by sheer luck I pulled off something sexy but PLEASE, help me!! How do it??
If anyone could help me learn how to apply makeup I would be SO grateful. I am putty in your hands

I have been obsessed with make-up ever since the first day I w my mom apply some, at about 2 or 3. I was constantly getting into trouble for playing with her make-up, but I was always careful not to ruin it. I was fascinated with the colors and how it could make you look so pretty. When I was 10 my mom let me start wearing very subtle shades of lipstick, eyeshadow and blush. That is when the collection, and monster, was created :). I am a perfectionist, I have so many different techniques and styles that I love to play around with. The problem is that I have never taken any classes and it is hard for me to duplicate what I do, so I don't know if I have a future in it. Plus I live in the smallest state in the country, so there isn't much here to get started with. I am also very opinionated and not too open minded about certain things. Most people like to wear make-up that looks like they are not wearing make-up, I on the other hand probably wear less actual product on my face, but a lot more vibrant colors. I hate when people say to me "wow you look so good in those bright colors, I could never pull that off with my skin color/hair color/eye color/personality/etc." Anyone can wear blue or green eyeshadow and red lipstick (and in bright shades), you just have to find the right tones that work with you. It takes a lot of trial and error. I get a lot of complements as well as a shitload of criticism, but I love how I look and will never change.

I just used a sample of the dermalogica "Special cleansing Gel" and was amazed at how clean and tingly my skin felt after; that was it! I am hooked!!!

So before i pay the $40 for the 16oz bottle let me know how you feel about their products. Are they worth the $$$...

makeup suggestions for costume party

In 2 weeks I'm going to a party with a flame/fire theme. I have an idea for the costume, but but I don't know what to do with my face and hair.

I found this cool eastern/cleopatra-looking metal necklace at the gem show this weekend and thought I'd revolve my costume around it. it's a thick choker that fans out about 3inches onto the chest.

thought I'd pair it with this ankle-length, metallic-looking tank dress (like chainmail metallic, not shiny). it's slit up the side so I thought I'd wear my motorcycle boots and go kinda Xena-archeangel-esque. maybe some bands of silver body paint on my arms. maybe get some unique wings.

any suggestions on the makeup & hair?

I had this really nice white face powder that was perfect for goth, period and zombie looks...not too opaque and could be layered for more/less paleness. but I can't find it anywhere since my move, and I can't remember the brand. and the All Souls parade is this weekend.

Clip on Hair Bangs

Shiny Blue Lips

As a bit of a newcomer to makeup fetishism, I'm finding there's certain things that I really like. One of them is shiny (like super glossy) blue lips - does anyone have any tips on how to do this. Do they even sell blue lipstick, or do you have to use some other makeup product not intended for lips?

For that matter also, does any one have any favorite sites for tips on goth/fetish makeup? The best one (sort of) that I've found is on porn star Asia Carrera's web site - she gives a really good tutorial on makeup application - http://www.asiacarrera.com
